Piles of posters promoting Relay For Life
Off the presses !
Or at least, falling off the photo-copier of the Canadian Cancer Society's Oxford unit office at 65 Springbank North in Woodstock yesterday was a stack of posters to promote Relay For Life, June 14-15 at College Avenue Secondary School.
The volunteer spirit is alive and strong with the CCS locally, whether it be Daffodil sales during April or the huge crew which donates its time to making Relay For Life such a success.
In Oxford County alone, the volunteer driving program in 2012 included 1835 free patient trips for doctor visits and chemo appointments. Relating those numbers in a different way: 109 cancer patients residing in Oxford were transported 96,062 km in their battle against cancer -- thanks to volunteers.
In 2012, Relay For Life raised over $310,000 in Woodstock alone and $553,000 when Ingersoll and Tillsonburg numbers are compiled.
